I know what you are thinking. What the ^&*$% is a moodling? I get that question a lot. Click here to learn the whole story.

About Me

Big Intro

Right I am supposed to have a great intro statement....but I got nothin'.  So I will 'steal' from someone else.  "Space: the final frontier. These are the voyages of the starship Enterprise. It's five-year mission: to explore strange new worlds; to seek out new life and new civilizations; to boldly go where no man has gone before." - Captain James T. Kirk
Serious, that has nothing to do with crafts, art or creativity, but it does tell you a little bit about me.  (Can you guess how old I am?)
Keep reading to learn more interesting, or not, facts about yours truly.

Why is your blog called Everyday Moodlings?

The term moodlings comes from one of my favorite books, If You Want to Write: A Book about Art, Independence and Spirit .  You can read more about the name of our blog name here. (This will be the serious answer.)
Plus....jeriparks.blogspot.com was just tooooooo boring.

What is this blog about?

The purpose of this blog is simple.  Inspire you to use your stash and to make creativity a part of your daily life.
So how big is your stash? (Hey....I mean craft/art supplies. I know how you people think.)  If you are like most of the crafters I have met, your stash is probably quite large. Shopping for new supplies is often just as fun, if not more fun, than using those supplies. If I just described you, then you and this blog are a perfect match.  You also might want to sign up for our Facebook group.

Random Fact #1

I am gluten free.  Not cuz I want to be, but because I have to be.  As one waiter told me.....you were gluten free before gluten free was cool.  So true.

Blogger or WordPress?

Well, our blog URL kind of gives that away.  I have read the arguments on both sides and I am staying with Blogger for now.  I have a simple reason for staying with Blogger. We teach social media and blogging workshops and the majority of our students use Blogger.  So, for now Blogger is our home.  (Of course the real reason might be that I am too lazy to learn a new blogging platform.)

What if I am not a paper crafter?  Why should I read your blog?

That is a good question.  Technically I don't think I can answer that question.  That is for you, the reader, to decide.  We cover a number of topics, so take a look around and see if you like our style.  If you do, then stay and play for a while.

Do you write the blog all by yourself?

No, my partner in crime is Shirley Pando.  Shirley has been working with me since I started My Creative Classroom.  We now work together at Craft Classes Online.  The internet can connect you to some amazing people.  Shirley and I are the perfect match.

How do you start a new project?

That depends on the project.  When I scrapbook I tend to start with a sketch.  When I am working on tags, cards or home decor I gather ideas from idea books and Pinterest. (I have a serious addiction to Pinterest....that is a rabbit hole I don't seem to be able to get out of.  Nor do I want to.)
I rarely use a sketch or an idea as is.  I only take bits and pieces.  I find ideas books and Pinterest often trigger me to use supplies I have forgotten about. (Hey, I think that is what this blog is all about.)

Where is your team located?

I am in the Houston area.....just minutes away from NASA.

Traditional scrapbooking or Project Life?

Both and neither.  I can't imagine keeping up with Project Life.  Seriously, I am in awe of those who do.  But I am a big believer in being honest with yourself.  And my honest self says.....you are crazy to think you can keep up with that.
That being said, I adore pocket scrapbooking.  Which is kind of a mix between the two.  I get to use all the fun supplies without the guilt of getting hopeless behind.  In business speak we call that a win-win situation.

Rubber or clear stamps?

Both of course!  Duh!  My preference is for rubber, but I would never turn away a clear stamp.  And if my stash of stamps could speak they would agree.  I have never meet a stamp I don't LOVE.

Digi or paper crafting?

Paper all the way baby!  I work on the computer.  I don't want to spend my creative time there too.

Clean and simple (CAS) or everything but the kitchen sink?

I tend to lean towards CAS. (Psst, I teach a workshop on CAS.  I know a shameless plug, but a girl has to make money for more crafting crap.)  But from time to time I do like to go the lumpy bumpy route.

Random Fact #2

I have never lived in any home for more than 5 years.  I am hoping to break that habit in our current home.  Actually I have threatened my husband with backyard burial if we move before the 10 year mark.

Artist or Crafter?

I don't know and I don't care.  I will let others decide.  I would rather spend my time being creative then defining my creativity.

Dog or Cats?

Dogs!  Actually I like cats too, but my husband is highly allergic to cats.  He does much better with dogs....so dogs it is.  Currently we have one crazy and lovable rescue dog.  She is a lab/border collie mix.  Super smart and super high-energy.  An interesting combination to say the least.

How did you get started paper crafting?

No, I did not go to a Creative Memories party. (I know you were thinking that....don't try to hide it.)  But I did have boxes of photos and I thought I should do something fun with them.  And the rest is history!

How long have you been blogging?

This is my 3rd blog.  I started my 1st blog in 2013, Use Every Stamp.  In 2014 we had My Creative Life 2014.
For 2015 we wanted to find a permanent home, so Everyday Moodlings was born.  My blogs always focus on my own personal blog goals: use my stuff and make creativity a daily part of my life.

How can I take one of your workshops?

I think I love you.  Really....can we be BFFs. :)  Check out this link to learn more about my workshops.

Random Fact #3

Really?!  How much do you want to know about me?  Ok, fine! I am a Steelers fan!  (Yes, that is football.) I grew up in Nebraska and my Dad was a Cowboys fan in the '70s. To completely annoy him, I cheered for the Steelers in the Super Bowl.  From there is just stuck.

Final Thoughts

Hmmmmm....well just like the intro, I got nothing.  So I will leave you with this.  If you like what you see you might enjoy hearing even more from us.  Check it out.

Have additional questions you would love to know the answer to?  Post them below and I will add them to the list. (But I refuse to answer questions about age, height or weight.  A girl has to have some dignity.)

  1. I like the way you think. You make some very good statements and I did join you when it was the Creative Classroom and enjoyed that particular blog, and I think I will love this one too. I am looking forward to being recharged this year.

    1. Thank you Carolyn. One my big goals this time was around was to be more 'me'. It is hard when you are a business own and support others in their creative businesses.....I felt like I had to be all business. This time I hope to be a bit more relax, yet still professional. :) If I go too far I know Shirley will be here to reign me in.

  2. Hi,
I'm a Kreative being just like you and I was roaming on YouTube and saw a video you made about packing tape tranfer, I loved it & it was simple to do! My question is this if I have a piece of art that I made and print it out on card stock, would that work as well?
