It would be pretty hard to create without color. It is so necessary that we almost don't see it. That sense of 'not seeing' it leads to getting stuck in a rut. Time for a little color inspiration!
Tuesday Challenge #10-Choosing Colors
So what is a crafty girl to do when she needs a little color help? Turn to home decor of course. :) Home improvement/paint stores are a wonderful place to find color combinations. Years ago I purchased a book full of paint schemes and I often turn to it when I need a little color boost. Can find many such books online at Amazon both for home decor and artists/designers.
There are also a number of online options from Home Depot, Sherwin Williams and more. Many of the same companies also have apps for your smartphone. I use the Colorsnap app from Sherwin Williams and it works great, especially with pattern paper. Plus it's FREE.
Your challenge this week is to pick a color combinations that you do not generally use. Push yourself a bit and see what you come up with.
This week I created an ATC for my Project Inspiration wall.
- Surfaces: Card Stock, Pattern Paper and Watercolor Paper
- Tools: Die (Tim Holtz) and Stamp (Dina Wakley)
- Color Medium: Oil Pastels (Prima), Wink of Stella Pen (Silver) and Black Pen
- Other: Tissue Tape, Ribbon, Rhinestones and Sentiment
Don't forget you still have only a few days to join out National Craft Month celebration. Enroll in any workshop and attend our newest workshop, Embossing Essentials, for FREE. I recommend the following workshops if you want to learn more about the techniques and supplies used in this week's project.
What are your favorite/least favorite colors to work with? We would love to know.
